Meditation is simply the creation of a nice space, it’s not achieving ecstasy, it’s slowing down and doing something with mindfulness but above all it starts from breathing. The way of breathing affects the way of thinking. And you won’t switch off your thoughts but your mind will become calmer. The process is not getting away from your mind, but accepting what’s happening without trying to fix our thoughts. We spend ⅓ of our life ruminating about past events, ⅓ illuding ourselves about future. We only have ⅓ left for present time. Meditation is simply being present. How? Starting from your body. If you feel deeply your body while it moves, you become present, because you are concentrated in what you are doing and so a natural status of meditation arises.
